There is no home version of this game you can still play. So instead of porting it, we put the cabinets online and wired up the seats.
There is no home version of Derby Owners Club you can play today, and this is not one. The two that existed were Japan-only online services, a PC game in 2004 and a phone game in 2012, and both were switched off years ago. What runs at play.johnreevesiii.com is the actual game on actual cabinets, streamed out, with the seats wired up so you can take one from a browser.
When you sit down you are at a specific seat on a specific machine, racing whoever else is in that row. The race on your screen is the race on the board in the room.
Rental horses wait at every seat, so you can take one and race without signing up for anything. If you want to keep a horse, raise it, breed it and put its name on the records board, an account gives you a stable to save it to.
That stable is the same idea as the card in your wallet in 2003. The card just lives somewhere that will not demagnetise now.
The lobby runs World Edition alongside the Japanese builds, so you can race the version you remember. The Japanese cabinets are the ones most people have never seen: DOC '99 and DOC 2000 never left Japan, and until recently they could not save a horse anywhere outside a cabinet.
The Host Pack set up a full linked row on one PC: the two-screen board plus a seat per player, arranged and linked automatically. Game files were not included. You supply your own, and the setup pointed at them.
We stopped distributing it in August 2026, and it is listed as unsupported rather than gone. Our Discord is still where the people who play this actually talk, and where setup questions get answered.
